The Lodge
A clearing that was never made bigger
The land was bought in 1996 by a family from Posadas who had been coming to the falls for twenty years and thought the town had enough hotels in it. They cleared to twenty metres from the forest edge, put up a single-storey building in local timber and block, and opened with fourteen rooms in 1998.
Eight more rooms went on in 2004, on the upper floor, which is why the building has one storey everywhere except the middle. The pavilion at the end of the terrace was built in 2011 as a function room and became the gaming room in 2016.
Nothing has been cleared since 1996, and in that time the forest has come back about three metres towards the building, which the owners are happy with.

Why the building is set back
Twenty metres is about the height of the canopy here. Closer than that, branches drop things on you, and farther out you would have a lawn, which nobody came to Misiones to look at.
It also means the rooms on that side are shaded from eleven in the morning without a tree standing over the roof.
Five things worth knowing
- Breakfast is seven to ten in the dining room and is not brought to rooms.
- The pool is unsupervised and closes at ten so the rooms above can sleep.
- Children are welcome everywhere except the pavilion, at any hour.
- Please don't feed the coatis. They aren't pets and they bite, which is why the sign by the pool says so in three languages.
- A room is held on a name and a telephone number, and no payment is made through this website.
